It’s another week of staying home and another week where some couples have had to make the difficult decision to postpone their weddings. Instead of focusing on the sadness of not being able to have your wedding right now, we’re going to try and lighten the mood by sharing some of our favourite TV wedding episodes recommendations.
We’ve chosen episodes from TV shows that have been around for ages but obviously there are spoilers ahead! If you still haven’t watched Parks and Recreation, Friends, the US Office, Sex and the City, Downtown Abbey or Brooklyn Nine-Nine, maybe give this post a miss and check out our TV show recommendations instead?
Parks and Recreation
We love this show so much that we’ve picked two couples and their wedding episodes from it. Both weddings are unconventional but still manage to be very sweet.
April and Andy told everyone they were having a dinner party and then surprised their guests with a wedding. We’re sure that there will be some unconventional weddings over the next few months as we all deal with the aftermath of Covid19, let’s hope for some happy surprise weddings!
Leslie and Ben planned their wedding but, just like many couples at the moment have been doing, they needed to rearrange their plans at the last minute. If you’ve had your wedding and it hasn’t exactly turned out the way you were planning, then this one will surely resonate. Even if you haven’t just got married this is still a very romantic episode and might help you be okay with any future rearranging you need to do.
Friends
Phoebe is definitely one of the more eccentric characters in TV history and her relationship with Mike had plenty of funny moments. This is another unconventional wedding so it’s a great reminder that even if you’re struggling with needing to make changes you still have the most important thing you need for your wedding, each other.
The US Office
A lot of us are working from home and are out of our routines so we thought this classic workplace romance deserved a spot on our list. If you met your partner in work, as lots of people did, you might find a lot to identify with in Pam and Jim’s romance.
Sex and the City
We’ve included Miranda and Steve here as they’re another example of a relationship and wedding that doesn’t follow a totally traditional route. They had a lot of ups and downs but weathered all of the storms in their path and are a great example of resilience winning out.
Downton Abbey
We’re a Georgian townhouse, and not quite on the same scale as the grandeur of Downton Abbey, but as a former family home we’re completely drawn into the family dynamics and romances of this series. Following a classic ‘will they, won’t they’ storyline, we were all delighted when Mary and Matthew had their big day.
Brooklyn Nine–Nine
We’re right back to current TV shows again with this one. Amy and Jake crack us up but they also have a very sweet romance. Like some of the above couples, their wedding day didn’t play out exactly as they were hoping but that didn’t make it any less special.
We know that there are couples who are having a stressful time right now so we hope that our TV wedding recommendations can help by giving a momentary distraction. Even if it’s just in a short half-hour burst, a laugh or two with your partner is a great way to let go of some tension.
Don’t forget that we’ll continue to share updates over on Twitter, Instagram & Facebook so keep an eye on us there for our latest news.
